Walk History
In 1988, when Care Dimensions (formerly named Hospice of the North Shore) was 9 years old, a small group of volunteers organized the first Walk for Hospice. They led 75 people through the streets of Beverly from Cabot Street to Endicott College and back, raising $6,000. At that time, our non-profit organization was run as an all-volunteer agency from a two-family home on Winter Street. This incredible group of volunteers had the vision to recognize the need for loved ones to gather together to remember lives lost and to raise essential funds for hospice care which was in its infancy. Organizers realized the importance of giving voice to people’s grief as well as raising community awareness of hospice and what it stood for.

A History of Caring
Care Dimensions was founded in 1978 as Hospice of the North Shore and was one of the nation's first hospice programs. We have evolved from a small, all-volunteer agency and today we are the largest hospice in Massachusetts with a staff of more than 750 and 400 volunteers. In 2021, we cared for 5,900 hospice patients and more than 2,525 palliative care patients. We serve an average of 942 hospice patients, 650 palliative care patients, and 400 HomeMD patients each day.

Care Dimensions is a Non-profit Organization
